One of the candidates for the Republican Gubernatorial nomination was in Erie today to unveil his energy plan. CLICK FOR VIDEO Republican Attorney General Tom Corbett announced his plan during a tour of the Hero BX bio fuels plant. He said his plan is designed to cut dependence on foreign oil and make energy more affordable. He said more should be done to promote bio fuel, plus wind, solar and other energy sources. But he also said Pennsylvania needs to strongly support traditional energy sources like oil, coal and natural gas. Corbett says one ways he would do that would be to order the Department of Environmental Protection to change it's focus. Corbett said, "Well we want them to understand that business is not the adversary. That they are to regulate but to help the regulated industries." Corbett also said he opposes Governor Rendell's plan to impose a wellhead tax on energy companies developing natural gas wells in the Marcellus Shale formation that underlies much of the state. Corbett is opposed for the Republican nomination in the May 18 primary election by Berks County State Representative Sam Rohrer.
