National Fuel Rate Hike
October 30, 2009, 12:00 pm
There is good news and bad news about the cost of heating your home with natural gas this winter. National Fuel today announced that demand for natural gas is up slightly. So the company will raise the price of gas by 1.5%. That's about $15 more a year for a typical homeowner. But even with the hike, winter heating bills will still be about 40% less than last year. NFG's Sandy James said, "A typical household, 75% of their annual gas costs are attributed to the winter heating period. So this heating season, customers could conceivably see rates $400 less, total than last year." National Fuel has more than 200,000 customers in Northwest Pennsylvania.
