To prevent overcrowding in the hospital's emergency wing and to prevent the transfer of the flu to other hospital patients, the Meadville Medical Center has created an off-site flu center.
The center will be open from 5pm to 9pm daily to treat people displaying flu-like symptoms. However, children under the age of four should seek a physician's assistance or report to the emergency room.
The Erie County Health Department is reporting 482 new cases of flu this week -- the highest figure in six years.
