What's Driving Voters to The Polls?

October 28, 2009, 10:25 pm

You know the election is just six days away when the airwaves become flooded with political ads.  CLICK FOR VIDEO  But what is driving voters to the polls and do folks even know next Tuesday is election day.  We found a fair number of registered voters like Erie's Debbie Yniro who had no idea about November third's municipal election.

"No idea it was Tuesday," said Yniro.

There are several area supervisor races in Harborcreek and in Millcreek for example that will draw some voters out.  But there seems to be a large amount of interest in the County Executive race.  That's whats drawing North East resident Fred Brustmeyer to the polls next Tuesday.

"I think there's some things that need to be changed and we have a couple of candidates in that race," said Brustemeyer.

And one voter saying the County Executive's race has been without the negative campaigning that filled the primary.

"Even in the lectures and debates they seem like they don't have anything against each other," said Merle Wood of Erie.

Corry's Jill McIntyre is voting just because its her civic duty.

"Nothing particular - no race or candidate is drawing me to the polls," said McIntyre.
