U.S. Senator Bob Casey was in Erie today, pushing health care reform and getting feedback from the public. CLICK FOR VIDEO He hosted a town hall meeting at the Hirt Auditorium at the Blasco Library. About 200 people attended the session. The first hour was for Casey to make his pitch supporting reform with a public option. Two invited panelists shared his view and told stories about problems they have encountered with the present system. During the hour-long town hall portion, some people clearly supported reform but there were plenty of people worried about government involvement in health care and the costs of providing universal coverage to millions of uninsured Americans. Casey said he thinks the cost of doing nothing would be even greater. Casey said, "I would argue that if we do not do it we will be in greater debt, substantially greater debt."
