In fact, Millcreek township has declared a state of emergency, because of Tuesday morning's flooding.
About three to five feet of water rose at the intersection of Route 8 and Norcross roads in Belle Valley. It flooded the entire fire department.
Crews tried to salvage some of their equipment, their turnaround suits got soaked. They say a lot was lost inside the building, computers were floating in the water, and more.
Just down the road, on East Gore Road, the picture wasn't any prettier.
The high waters flooded about six homes, some people were trapped inside their homes, as the water rose too quickly for them to get out.
Fire fighter rescue teams came in just before noon. They had to use a boat to rescue some of the families from their homes.
"The front yard is what flooded so quickly. I couldn't believe how quick that came up, it was amazing." Said Kathy Pieri, who had to be rescued from her home.
"I've never seen it this bad. I've been here 29 years and it's pretty bad. It never got up to the garage door, it went into the garage this time." Said Millcreek resident Paul Miller.
Now that Millcreek has declared a state of emergency, flood victims can apply for federal assistance. And the township can also try to recoup funds for overtime and materials.
For now, the cleanup begins.
