Deadly Fire In Lawrence Park

A young man is dead after a fire early Sunday morning in a Lawrence Park row house. The fire broke out about 6:00 a.m. at 1077 Newton Ave. Fire officials say a 19 year old man died in the fire. According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, the victim was found just inside the front door of the home. Preliminary indications are that 19 year old Christopher Davis died of smoke inhalation and burns. An autopsy was performed on the body Sunday afternoon.
Lawrence Park fire officials tell 12News that the fire started on the first floor, possibly in the kitchen and spread to the second floor of the home. A State Police fire marshal is assisting Lawrence Park fire officials in an investigation into the cause of the fire. Neighbors say the victim was the only one home at the time of the fire.
