Mercyhurst Expanding

March 11, 2008, 11:48 am

Mercyhurst College today unveiled plans for more than $30 million in construction projects over the next 5 years. College President Dr. Tom Gamble said a bond issue and private donations will pay for the projects. They include a new academic building to be built near the current bookstore on the main campus.  The $12 million complex will house both the Walker School of Business and the Institute for Intelligence Studies. The college also announced plans to build a $14 million residence hall on the main campus near Tullio Field. Another residence hall is also planned for the Mercyhurst Northeast campus. It is the most ambitious building program in the history of the school. Mercyhurst President Dr. Tom Gamble said, "I think the reason is Mercyhurst has always dreamed big. It is a highly competitive market place so we are gambling on growth and development and quality in this planning for the future of Mercyhurst College." Plans also call for renovations to the former First National Bank in Northeast . The school recently purchased the building. All of the projects were approved by the school's Board of Trustees.
