Alleged Sex Scandal in Albion

January 23, 2007, 5:32 pm

Ashley Fitch showed us a picture of her former high school English teacher, 32-year-old Robin Hecker of Albion.   "You hear about it happening all the time you don't think it could happen, when it does it's kinda weird actually."

The English teacher at Northwestern High School has been charged with five counts of corrupting a minor.

According to the police report, Hecker and the alleged victim had sex several times at her former residence on State Line Road during June and August 2005.  The alleged victim was 16-years-old at the time, and was her 10th grade English student.

Hecker posted $10,000 cash bond Tuesday morning and was released from prison.  WICU 12News went to her home but was unable to get a comment.  While she remains tight lipped on the accusations, her silence cannot stop the news, from spreading rapidly throughout this small town.

"Last night on the news my daughter called me woke me up couldn't believe it because she was a great lady... Is a great lady, I dunno," said Lynn Kiedaisch, whose daughter had Hecker as a teacher.

Teresa Parknow's daughter currently attends Northwestern High School.  Parknow says this news was no secret at the school.  "Most kids know about it way back when it happened, it's not a secret to kids, they know who the boy is, knew but no one says anything."

Even if the allegations aren't true, the damage might already be done.  "I feel sad for her and what she'll go through, and the boy," said Kiedaisch.

The superintendent refused to comment on the situation.  Hecker has been suspended with pay.  Her preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for January 31st.
