The subject for October 2009:
Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast cancer is no longer the number one killer of women – heart disease is – yet nearly 200,000 women a year are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 of them die.
The month of October has become known nationally as Breast Cancer Awareness month and it is that awareness which may help more women understand the importance of early diagnosis and therefore increase the survival rates of breast cancer.
This month, in the Saint Vincent Health Insights reports, we go back to the basics of understanding Breast Cancer and what all women should know.
