The Curtain to Rise on the Footlights Production of Damn Yankees Erie, PA-July 16, 2010- 80 local youth and 16 student musicians will perform FREE for the public at East High School, July 28, 29 and 30 at 7pm. This is the programs 36th summer production. Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd trades his soul to the Devil (the charming but devious Mr. Applegate) for a chance to lead his favorite team, The Washington Senators, to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, only to realize the true worth of the life (and wife) he's left behind. With the help of a handy escape clause and a guilt-ridden temptress named Lola, Joe outsmarts Applegate, returns to his former self and shepherds the Senators to the World Series. The Footlights Theatre is part of The City of Erie's Parks and Recreation program and has seen thousands of children participate since its inception in 1974. Their 'Arts for all children' mission fulfills itself every summer by incorporating children from all over the area in a large musical production. Contact: Rachel Rudd Director 814-403-6416
